Hi friends! It is time to study my favourite element! I'm really excited, I don't know what I would do without water.

Let's brainstorm together. I'll give you some ideas, what do you know about water? Where can it be found? How is it?

I am really happy about your answers and it's time to go further. My friend Piplup is going to work with you about the hydrosphere. 

    1. What is the hydrosphere?

As we have seen, the hydrosphere is a large part of the Earth. To verify and show it to you, I have brought you some maps. 

Activity 1.

Color the map, use blue for the water and green for the land. Which color dominates?

    1.1. Marine Waters: Salt Water

Now that you know what salt water is and where we can find it, you have to do the following activity to expand and reinforce your knowledge.

Activity 2. 

Looking at the physical map that is in class, write, in its corresponding place, the name of the oceans on your map. How many are there?

    1.2. Continental Waters: Fresh Water

We have seen a lot of things about the fresh water. But I still have a doubt, where can I find fresh water?

Activity 3.

Help Piplup to understand where he can find fresh water. Draw if necessary to help him find the places where he cand find it.

Do you remember that Squirtle told you that today was going to be a good day? Well, he was right because we are going to do an experiment!

Making waves!

Materials: tray, water and straw.

Process: First, we pour water into the tray. Next, we introduce part of the straw into the water. And finally, we blow.

Making ocean currents!

Materials: Clear tray, glass, ice cube maker, red and blue food coloring, and container with dropper.

Process: 

Step 1. Fill the glass with water and add a few drops of blue food coloring.

Step 2. Pour the mixture into the ice cube maker and put it in the freezer.

Step 3. Fill the dropper container with hot water and add a few drops of red food coloring.

Step 4. Fill the clear tray with room temperature water.

Step 5. Take two ice cubes and place them on one end of the tray. At the other end add drop by drop the hot water dyed red.

Step 6. Observe the movements of hot and cold water.

Observations: In the oceans, the colder waters are denser and go to the seabed, desplacing the warmer waters to the surface. This movement of the water masses generates the marine currents.

Homework

Think about the first experiment we did in class. What happens if you blow too hard? And if you blow weakly? What causes the waves?

Happy friday! 

Today we are going to learn about Spain's rivers. I guess you remember some form last year. Today we are going to remember them and learn some facts about them.

Helloooo! I am Ducklett. 

As you have seen, in Spain there are long and short rivers, with a lot of flow and with little. And they flow into three watersheds: the Mediterranean watershed, the Cantabrian watershed and the Atlantic watershed. Easy, right?

In addition to know their characteristics, it is important to know where the rivers are located. For that, we are going to practice with some maps.

Activity 1.

Place the following rivers on the map: Duero, Ebro, Guadalquivir, Guadiana, Júcar. Miño, Nalón, Nervión, Segura, Tajo and Turia.

Hello everyone. As you know, water is a very important and necessary resource, that's why we have to make sure that we make good use of it.

That includes not wasting and not polluting it.

I really hate water pollution, that's the reason I have the power to purify polluted water.
