Hi!! Here's Bulbasaur! Are you ready for a great new adventure?
You just learned about the water on Earth and, you know what? Someone told me you did great.
Today we are going to start with landscapes and rocks. I think it will be very interesting, but you already know a little about landscapes. What do you think if we review it?
For this, I have brought with me my dear friend and trainer... MISTY! Have a nice time!
Hi Poké Students!! Bulbasaur told me about the new adventure, so I made a Quiz to review the concepts of landscapes.
Great job! Now let's play a game. This game is called Kaboom!
You have to take out a stick and look at the number on it. According to the number you get, you should look at the template and say what is the image that has that number.
If you get it right you get the stick, but... be careful! If you take out the kaboom stick (the one with a star) you lose all the points you have!
Good luck!
This was all for today.
Keep working and studying like that, you are really good.
Hello Poké Students!! Today we are going to go further and we are going to learn new things.
For that, my friend Dwebble is going to study with you the formation of the Earth's relief.
2.1 The plates of the Earth's crust
Ey ey eyyy!
As you have seen, the Earth's crust is divided into pieces called plates. These plates are in constant motion, and the movements can create mountain ranges, fault lines or pits.
Let's watch a video about it:
Plate Tectonics
Now, I have a challenge for you! You must finish the following activity before I collect another rock for my shell. If you win, I promise you all will get a pokeball today, but I'm sure I'll beat you!
Activity 1.
Match the definitions with the corresponding words.
Hahaha! I already found another rock!!
Wait... WHAT?! Have you finished yet? I can't believe it. Ok, you win.
But we are not done...
2.2 The volcanoes
Wow, I really like that part. I find volcanoes very interesting.
The way in which the volcanic eruption occurs and how the lava comes out... I LOVE IT! Do you like volcanoes?
I found the video with many interesting facts about them. Let's watch it! All about volcanoes
I am going to leave you an activity while I look for my friends.
Activity 2.
Label the parts of the volcano by selecting the words from the box given below.
Since today is the last day of the week, we are going to have a relaxed and fun class.
Hope you enjoy it!
Hello! My name is Rockruff. I'm so excited to be here, I've heard amazing things about you.
Are you ready to start? We are going to review the relief of Spain. I like that because there are many mountains and places to visit in your country. So, let's discover some of them.
Activity 1
Place the following landforms on the map: Macizo Galaico, Cordillera Cantábrica, Montes de León, Montes Vascos, Pirineos, pico Aneto, Cordilleras Costero-catalanas, depresión del Ebro, depresión del Guadalquivir, Sistema Ibérico, Sierra de Tramuntana, Sistema Central, Submeseta Norte, Submeseta Sur, Montes de Toledo, Sierra Morena, Cordillera Subbética, Cordilleras Béticas, Cordillera Penibética, pico Mulhacén, pico Veleta, pico Teide.
Hi! How was your weekend? I really enjoyed it, I've been sleeping aaaall day.
Have you recharged your energy? Because today we are going to learn something new and very cool.
I called three friends to work the minerals and rocks. It's going to be great!!
Hellooooo! We are Diancie and Carbink. As you can see we look like minerals and for that reason we are going to work on the minerals part.
I am Golem and I am going to take care of the part of the rocks because I am a biiig and strong rock.
4.1. Minerals
As you have seen there are many types of minerals and to differentiate them you have to look at their properties. These are shape, lustre, hardness and colour.
Let's do an activity about it. In it you can find us using our powers!
In today's lesson you are going to see the uses of rocks in the daily file and, after that, we are going to build a rock!
What do you think about it? Interesting?
Let's start!
I am ONIX.
You have already seen the uses of rocks. They can be use for obtaining energy, making construction materials and for industrial uses.
That's why rocks are very important. Can you tell me any example that you know of the use of rocks in your daily life?
Great. Now we are going to watch a video that summarises what we have just learn.
ROCKS - Formation, Classification and Uses
So far you have successfully passed all our challenges.
But with this one you're going to need all the help you can get.
I hope you have been paying close attention, because you are going to need the information to...
RESCUE BULBASAUR!
Expansion Activity
To rescue your friend you must work in groups.
Each group has to choose an object or product that we use in our daily life from the ones below, and investigate the following items:
- What mineral or rock has been used in its making.
- Where the mineral or rock is extracted.
- Another example of material made from that mineral or rock.
Objects or products:
We cannot believe it!!
WE'VE BEEN BEATEN AGAAAAIN!
Amazing job! You really know how to work in group and you rescued Bulbasaur.
Now is the time to do something fun and relaxed. Let's build a rock!!
Building a rock!
Materials: gravel, sand, white glue, water, sugar, spoon and two clear plastic cups.
Process:
Step 1. Pour a spoonful of sand in a plastic cup, then add glue to make a thin layer and pour a spoonful of gravel in the same cup to make another layer.
Step 2. Repeat the first step three times.
Step 3. In another glass, dissolve five tablespoons of sugar in a little water, then pour the mixture into the other glass.
Step 4. After letting it dry for a couple of days, cut the glass and remove the rock.
It was a great experiment!
We will let it dry a couple of days. On friday we will see the results.
