Unit 9. IN ROMAN TIMES

 Friday, 12th of May 2023

Hello everybody again! Bulbasaur here. Are you ready for a new adventure?

Before we start... what do we know about Roman times?

We will be working in groups, so please create groups of about four or five people.

Activity.

You will find a list of different words. You can select the ones you want and associate them, creating a story.

Are you ready?

Let's see how these stories turned out!

How original! They were very cool.

See you tomorrow!

Time travel

 Tuesday, 16th of May 2023

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

Today we have a very cool topic and for that we're going to call Makuhita...

He's a bit deaf, but come on, all together!

MAKUHITAAAAAA!!!!

Is it my turn? I couldn't hold on any longer!

Activity 1.

You already know that we are going to study the time of the Romans, but before they arrived there were other peoples...

Can you believe it? Let's travel back in time to see it!

Great work team!

Activity 2.

We will continue with these pre-Roman peoples: the Iberians and Celts.

What are their differences? Can you tell them apart?

That's the way to do it!

That's how cool that team is! Let's go

Activity 3.

Obviously they were not going to last long... our lands attracted the attention of many peoples and that is why there have been so many conquests.

What happened to the Iberians? Tell us a story about the conquistadors.

I will give you a list of words to guide you:

Let's hear those stories.... I want drama!

Great job guys!
I'm off now, see ya!

Where have these people come from?

  Wednesday, 17th of May 2023

Good morning! Today I've brought an old friend with me, a bit grumpy... but he is loved.

He is going to guide you through the activities we will be doing today

I'm so excited!

Grumpy? ME? I DON'T GET ANGRY

Well... I'd better introduce myself:

I'm Primeape and I'm fascinated by Roman history, I hope you are too.

Shall we start?

SEE HOW I'M KIND AND LOVING BULBASUR?

Activity 1.
The first thing we will do is make a timeline, so you will have to put the corresponding historical event for each year.

Ready?

Exactly! We continue...

Activity 2.
Let us now look at some of the characteristics of this population.

Come on, let's go!

Incredible work!

That's all for today, see you soon!

All together!

   Friday, 19th of May 2023

Today is Friday! I offer you the following plan...

Shall we play a board game?

Let's get into groups (maximum four) and start!

Activity.

With this game we will work on the conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, what were the reasons for this and what happened in Hispania.

Everything you need to know is in the instructions of the game itself, click to see them.

Have fun!

A city like ours

  Tuesday, 23rd of May 2023

Welcome one more day to our coolest blog!

Have you ever wondered what your city was like before you were born? Or even 10 years ago? And if we add up 728999282...

Ok, I've gone too far

Hey guys, I know the answer!

I'm a great builder of cities of all kinds, we can see what buildings they have, their uses... EVERYTHING!

Your new friend Timburr will show you what a real Roman city was like.

Activity 1.
First, place each label where it belongs. On the next slide you can see the solutions.

Let's do it!

Very well done!

Activity 2.
Let's compare the map we have ordered with this one of Cordoba:

  • Do we find the same buildings?

  • Are there differences between them?

  • What other elements do we find?

Good work team!

Here I end my lesson, good day!

Construction of a Hispanic-Roman village! I

   Wednesday, 24th of May 2023

Prepare for trouble...
...and make it double!
To protect the world from devastation!
To unite all peoples within our nation!
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie!
James!
Team Rocket, blasting off at the speed of light!
Surrender now or prepare to fight!
Meowth! That's right.

James: Here we meet again...

Jessie: Did you miss us?

Meowth: Let the hour of evil begin!

Bulbasaur: Guys, help! I've been turned into... into.... WHAT HAVE YOU TURNED ME INTO? I can't move!

Jessie: Oh, that's right... Who was it?

Meowth: Don't look at me!

James: Well...

Jessie: James? Do you have something to tell us?

James: It was an accident! I was just preparing an activity for this class and all of a sudden... sparkles, lightning and more sparkles!

Bulbasaur: Can you stop arguing and HELP ME?

Jessie: Sure, sure... but first students should know what they are working on today, shouldn't they?

Meowth: It would be the right thing to do.

James: I almost don't have an opinion...

Bulbasaur: Go ahead then, but don't forget to help me!

Activity.
We already know all about Hispano-Roman villages, what buildings there are, what their lives were like...

Team rocket wants a village like this for their collection and you have been selected to create it.

They managed to obtain a lot of lego pieces of all colours and shapes for the different constructions.

In groups (of about four people), you have to choose two buildings. You will be able to consult in depth the buildings you choose to construct.

Afterwards, you have to make a design report (with the type and number of lego pieces you will need for each one) and then you just have to get down to work!

Are you ready?

We look forward to seeing your creations!

Construction of a Hispanic-Roman village! II

    Friday, 26th of May 2023

IT'S FRIDAY!

Bulbasaur: I'm not so happy...

Jessie: Yeah well... while you guys are having a great time building your buildings, we'll keep trying to figure out what to do with the bug.

James: What a relief...

Meowth: It was your fault James!

Bulbasaur: Class, we continue with the activity of the construction of our Hispano-Roman city, come on!

Team Rocket, you guys get to work too, I'm starting to get hungry!

Construction of a Hispanic-Roman village! III

     Tuesday, 30th of May 2023

Meowth: Have you finished?

James: I want to see my new village now!

Jessie & Meowth: OUR VILLAGE!

The time has come, with all the buildings form a Hispano-Roman city and share how the inhabitants can entertain themselves or do in the village!

Bulbasaur: Team rocket?

Meowth: Now we are the ones who are in trouble...

Bulbasaur: I hope not to see you again!

Guys! I'm finally me again.

I'm very proud of your work, and you guys have done a great job!

See you next day, now I'm going to eat everything I see so I can recover... Bye!

What did our ancestors leave us?

      Wednesday, 31st of May 2023

Good morning students!

I hope there won't be any problems today and no one will exchange my pokemon anatomy for that of a toy... anyway...

Let's get on with the topic. When we look at our city and find less new parts like the Roman Bridge or something more from our time like the shopping centre...

  • Do you think they were built at the same time?

  • Where do monuments from thousands of years ago come from?

They come from your ancestors!

I've gone ahead... I'm MonfernoNot only do buildings come from our ancestors, they have left us a great legacy that makes us the society we are today.

Let's find out what else comes from your ancestors!

Activity.

First of all, what did the Hispanics adopt from the Romans?

Let us look at some examples:

Very good work, now we know more about the legacy of the Romans.
  • Can you identify parts of the Roman legacy?

  • Are there other types of calendars or religions in the world? Do some research and discuss in class!

You have found a lot of information, now we can see the great cultural richness of the world and how it is changing and developing until today.

The cool thing is to share all this to open our minds and to see that there is not only one choice.

I say goodbye for today!

Look at that monument!

       Friday, 2nd of June 2023

Friday already... again? How quickly this course is passing by!

How much you have grown... I won't get sentimental, I promise.

We come here to learn a lot, and you know a lot of things now...

We have to prove it to Riolu, ready?

Here I am!

I have heard a lot of good things about you and I couldn't resist to come and have a glimpse of why you are the best class in the world...

Activity

Let's see what you know about the different Roman monuments and their functions... my friends have taken selfies on some of them in Spain, let's get to it!

All right, guys!

  • Now, could you say what buildings we currently have that fulfil the same function? Compare them!

Great work warriors!

Have a good weekend, see you!

We do our own research I

        Tuesday, 6th of June 2023

Hello pokestudents! I'm Pancham, nice to finally meet you.

You might be wondering where Bulbasaur is... well, this week I'm in charge of a very cool project... Want to find out more?

For the realisation of the project, you will be put into groups of about 4 people.

This project is divided into four phases:

  • Choice: you must choose a Roman monument located in Spain.

  • Research: here you will have to look for information about the monument in Spain, write it down and organise it in different points, such as: date of construction, uses, what it is made of...

  • Creation of an infogram: once you have all the information, you will have to arrange it in an infogram with images, graphics, text... You can do it either manually or digitally. Be creative!

  • Presentation: on Friday, you will present the work you have done to the whole class.

If you have any questions, you can ask your teacher.

Ready? Go for it!

We do our own research II

         Wednesday, 7th of June 2023

Hi guys! Today we pick up where we left off yesterday.

We are still working on the infogram, remember that the next day we present the works, good luck!
